General discussion (QSO) / AM on 75
« Last post by KC2IFR on July 12, 2014, 05:47:20 PM »
Im not sure how many of u guys realize that am is still liked by some of us.
The problem is that a few am stations are running at least 2kw carrier. These stations will overpower the legal am'ers and drive them off the air........
Just listen to 3872.....

That's a score!  Never thought about looking for the clock in a different radio like that.

I found a table model "all American 5" radio with a working Telechron clock in it for about $15.00 including shipping.  Both the clock and the radio worked!

60 minutes of work and the HQ-170 now has a working Telechron!

I have been using one for the past year and so far no issues. Some problems reported in early production models seem to have been fixed by the time they built mine. It will run just fine all the way down to 10 volts before shutting down so battery operation works really well. I get good audio reports with the stock mike. Seems to stay cool with even with moderately heavy use. So far everything has just worked except me  ;)   I still have a lot to learn about how to get the full use of all the many features the radio has.

Technical Central / Re: interstage transformers

Indeed, you are always welcome here, questions or not 8)

What you have asked is beyond the scope of most of us here, hence no replies :-X.

First off, one needs to clarify at what frequency your transformer is operating at; AF or RF.

There are some very highly versed technical minds on another forum, www.amfone.net.

I'd take my question there and be ready for an onslaught of diatribe :o.

By now I'm embarrassed that I've enquired and I'm sorry for your time collectively.  Like I learned back in Sunday School.   "You're welcome as long as you don't ask questions, young man."
