Technical Central / Re: interstage transformers

Indeed, you are always welcome here, questions or not 8)

What you have asked is beyond the scope of most of us here, hence no replies :-X.

First off, one needs to clarify at what frequency your transformer is operating at; AF or RF.

There are some very highly versed technical minds on another forum, www.amfone.net.

I'd take my question there and be ready for an onslaught of diatribe :o.

I'm such an old-school dinosaur I never even thought about a ferrite in the works...

With them, I'm of no use.

The choke value is not only rated in uH, but also for a resonance point, usually relative to the distributed capacitance across it.

This is why you find some RF chokes having different-sized pies wound on it: to reduce the 'solenoid' effect of a single winding at particular frequencies.

If self-resonance occurs at a particular frequency, it will cease to perform the isolation function.  If it is handling power, such as in a plate circuit, it will probably burn and be damaged.

Antennas / Re: Torroids..can I use stranded wire instead of solid?

I have seen many such transformers wound with stranded for both power and RF use.

There may be a slight difference in performance, testing will get it closer to your target.

Welcome to the newest ham forum out there!

Let's see photos and stories about radio equipment from the halcyon days before 1942.

Not be picky, but RCA wouldn't have a thing to do with Eimac in the time period.

That pub was from Eitel-McCullough directly.
